    One Galle Face literally took Colombo by storm. From the opening date to this very day there has been a steady flow of tourists, window shoppers, jaywalkers and genuine buyers walking the extensive halls. It is quite an extent for a mall and going through one floor alone can have you exhausted.

     

    So to quench thirst, grab a quick snack or even a proper meal Food Studio has its second multi-cuisine food court. Making its debut at the OGF food studio is Twister, a kiosk serving an interesting combination of German and Turkish food. Now all though it is two corners of Europe represented there are similarities in the cuisine that Twister aims to highlight.

     

    The simple menu is actually based on a “build your own” concept where one can pick a protein and then decide whether you want it in a Lavash, Sub, Salad or with Rice. The proteins include Chicken Doner, Chicken Sausage, Beef Doner or a Vegetarian option. Once the two main elements are done, you can also choose from four different sauces, namely Garlic Mayo, Spicy Mayo, Curry or Truffle Mayo. Pricing is also depending on your choice and anything additional will be charged as well. That’s the Turkish side of things.

     

    The German menu is just a couple of dishes which are more localized and not really authentic German food. The main highlight of both cuisines is the meat. Strung up in Shawarma style the meat is perfectly done regardless of the carb you choose to consume it in (or the lack of carb in the salad for that matter!) We preferred the beef with the Spicy Mayo over the other versions simply because the meat was well-done, succulent and full of flavour. The submarine buns were also delightfully fresh as opposed to some you would find in other more famous submarine joints.

     

    Off the German menu, the Schnitzel Burger we had was quite an interesting combination of flavours. The menu says the Chicken Patty is coated with a secret sauce and we tasted a tinge of sweet chilli and also a hint of garlic combined. Altogether it was also quite a generously sized burger for the price you pay which also worked as a plus point.

     

    Although most of what’s on the menu is pre-cooked in terms of the meat being already done, the food served is fresh. Portion sizes especially in the case of the submarine is also great if you choose to share. We actually recommend picking a few variants from the menu and sharing which gives you more options to taste the different flavours of Europe at one location.
