Peanut Butter has more than a century of history and has been a favourite breakfast accompaniment and snack the world over. Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches, Peanut Butter Cookies and goodies are simply mouth-watering and for additional benefit it is healthy for everyone as well.
Peanut Butter although widely available in the market, can also be made quite easily at home. Taking an old family recipe to another level, My Little Peanut have created two interesting versions of Peanut Butter which we tried out.
My Little Peanut is a premium, organic, 100% Sri Lankan and home-made Peanut Butter using slow roasted premium peanuts and bee’s honey sourced from Monaragala. When ordering they told us that each batch is made fresh when an order is placed, but once made a bottle’s shelf life can go up to 6 months (Like it’s going to last that long!)
We placed our order via phone and had it promptly delivered to us in reusable glass bottles. The two versions are a sweet and salty, with the sweet one being a smooth consistency while the salty is crunchier. The saltier version is ideal as a dip on a cheese board or with crackers, while the sweeter one is more ideal for all the yummy goodies you can back. For instance we used it in Peanut Butter Cookies, Apple and Peanut Butter Crumble and with Bananas and Honey on a Cracker. The saltier version we also used in a Peanut Sauce to accompany Chicken Satay.
Taste wise we definitely preferred the sweeter version which is light and can be used as a guilt-free snack. We’ve tried a few mass-produced and home-made versions and found the My Little Peanut ones to be very user-friendly in the sense that from a toddler to someone in their ripe old age could enjoy it in any form that they like. It also works for gym junkies who want to add a dollop to their smoothies as well. So it’s the versatility that we actually like.
